When i was about 7 or 8, my dad took me to visit a work friend of his. to give some location knowledge, i live in Australia, in the western suburbs of Sydney. The friend (let's call her Jen*) lived about a 15 minute drive away. anyways, when we arrived, i decided i would spend some time in Jen's backyard, on a little veranda. Her backyard was beautiful, and i loved listening to the sounds of nature from the comfort of her veranda while the adults chatted. While relaxing, i suddenly heard a vicious buzzing sound near my ear, which was more powerful then the buzzing of any bee i'd heard before. Terrified, i sat up and looked over to the origin of the buzzing, which appeared to be a little pot plant with overhanging branches. As i looked, i noticed a strange insect fly over to the plant, where it landed on a branch and sat there. Curiosity got the better of me, so i walked over and took a closer look. To my surprise, there were many of the insects already perching on the branches of the plant! the insects looked like normal bees, and were the same size, with stripes and a stinger. the thing that puzzeled me though was the fact that they were a light blue colour! this seemed to help them blend in with the plant, which was the same colour. they showed no aggresion towards me whatsoever, but appeared to be 'sleeping'. i eventually had to leave. i have been to Jen's house many times since, but i never saw the 'blue bees' again, despite many desperate attempts at trying to find them.
to this day, i still have no idea what those insects were. i'm 14 now, but the image of those 'blue bees' is still vivid in my mind, even today.
