| Looking out of the glass doors of my parents house in Plain Township, Ohio offered a view of our long back yard and an upward sloping field that ended in a treeline with a railroad track in between. For years I had watched people and animals (domestic dogs and cats) walk the tree line about 300 yards away. One morning I looked out the windows and saw a large black animal the size of a big german shephard walking south to north on the edge of the field. I watched it for several minutes and then dashed for the binoculars. When I got back, it was gone. Its shape and movements were definitely feline, and I had decided before running to get the binoculars that it had to be a panther or jaguar. I never saw it again nor heard any reports of other "large cat" sightings. But, I had watched my own dog run that tree line many times and was experienced enough, I feel, to accurately judge size from that point. Whatever it was looked and moved like a large black cat and was certainly the size of 60 or 70 pound dog. |
