Southeast Texas Jaguarundi sighting
posted by Bill Fredeman bfredeman@sbcglobal.net on May 9, 2008
I was riding on my Kawasaki Mule on the side of a grass drainage ditch with my wife. There were only a few small water areas that were drying up. A animal ran out as we approached and at first I thought it was an otter. When it exited the grass we both noticed it was a cat about twice the size of a house cat. It was a tan color without spots , had short ears, and stood short to the ground . I could not think of any other type of cat it could be and it surely was not a bobcat. My wife got scared and asked if it could hurt us- I replied no. We live in Fannett, Texas which is 10 miles south of Beaumont near Winnie,Tx. We are 20 miles from Port Arthur,Tx. This sighting occured on May 2nd 2008.
