Odd Animal on Gettysburg Battlefield
posted by JRR Jennifer.reed@mac.com on January 10, 2008
I've had a few people look at this photo over the past few years. It was taken in March 2005 at Gettysburg Battlefield. Four of us me, (my husband, brother and brother's girlfriend) were driving around one afternoon during our trip and saw this animal from our car. At first we thought it was a fox, an animal we have all seen before. We are from Ohio so the wildlife in the area isn't very different from what we are familiar with. We watched it walk across a field as we drove past. Once we realized it wasn't an animal we recognized, I tried to snap a picture, but we were still moving and it was blurry. I tried to take another shot, but it was gone. We all swear to this day that it looked like an anteater, which is obviously not native to the area! I have the original photo. I also have one adjusted to black and white with sharper contrast.

Note: I am having trouble posting the picture, but feel free to contact me so I can email it to you.
