| May 1987, my brother, my friend, and I were on a camping trip in the hills of Cavecreek AZ. We were fishing in the river there below Bartlett dam when at around 11:00 p.m., we heard a commotion in the water. It was like someone was throwing huge rocks into the river from one of the cliffs above. We had a campfire going but couldn't really see anything, so I grabbed our flashlight and was shining it on the cliffs across the river, which is only about 50 feet wide, and didn't see anything. A moment passed and we heard a splashing sound in the water! We didn't get concerned until we heard a throaty sounding grunt and this went on for about 3-4 minutes. I kept shining the flashlight in the direction of the sounds, but could never really see anything. We new that whatever was in and around the water was moving! That is when I left the campfire and walked about 30 feet towards the river and was really shining the light all around that area when I seen it. That is what I call it. IT. Don't know what it was, but naturally it was large, but skinny. Looked about 7-8 feet tall, but really skinny. Maybe only 300 lbs is all. I seen the backside of it and the right side of it while it was walking in a fast pace away. Long arms, long stride and a smell of what I called rotten cheese. Almost like a terribly sweaty sock. The next day we were asked to leave the area by an Arizona Fish & Game representative. He claimed that Bald Eagles were nesting there, and he was packing a sidearm. We left ! |
