Strange hairless wild dog in Texas
posted by Phil Taylor info@paradiserestoration.org on March 21, 2007
My wife and I were returning to our rural farm 45 miles west of Fort Worth Texas when a large (80-100lb) Dog like creature crossed the road in front of us. He was long legged and tall, his front legs seemed longer than his hind legs. This seemed to make his backline angle down from front to back like an African wild dog. He was tan colored and nearly hairless and was covered in large spots that semmed to be more skin pigmant spots than hair. He didn't move like a coyote. Coyotes tend to trot where this animal loped along front legs straight and hind legs kind of folding under. He was nearly hairless except for a tuft of hair right on the top of his head. He had a long tail but it was tucked between his legs. His head was round and his snout was square almost like a bull dog but not as flat. His ears stood up and were very large but unlike a coyote they were not pointed at all but rather they were oval shaped like a prickly pear. He crossed the road and then turned and stopped. He looked me square in the eyes and unlike a coyote he was unafraid of me in fact he looked at me like I was food. It made the hair on the back of my kneck stand up. On the other hand his face and attitude did not resemble a domestic dog. I have never had an animal look at me like that. If i got out of the truck I think I would have been attacked. Freaked me out. Happened 3-19-07 about 4:45 pm. I looked at him for a good minute and a half or so.
