I just found some interesting news here:

sorry it is in german, but comes with three pics.
they say that in north france (Bologne-sur-mer), pepole has spotted a large black cat in the fields (see pics). A man doing a walk, saw the cat, and shot the photos. Later a police men also saw the cat.
they showed the pictures to an expert (not said to whom specifically), and he coudln´t decide. either small panther or large cat...
well look at it yourself.
oh they say there was another sighting in wissant in 1986 which looked similar. when I was looking at your site, I found the post from "Waitorengi" who saw a similar cat in new zealand....
