Strange humming bird bug.
posted by Alyssia Lissedae@hotmail.com on July 29, 2006
I don't have a picture, but I think I can describe it fairly well.
It was an insect, sort of, but didn't seem to have and abdomen-thorax distinction.
It was about 1/4"-1/2" long, black with three little yellow dots along each side, and very... cylindrical. It was winged and flew like a hummingbird, hovering, moving to another spot and hovering again. I've never seen a bug, other than a dragonfly, move like that.
I live in St. Paul, Minnesota and fairly far away from a lake. I'm about a mile from the river.
If anyone has any ideas of what this thing is, please let me know.
