Mapinguari |
|
Said to live in the dense Brazilian Amazon, the Mapinguari is a creature described by the indigenous peoples as being about 6 feet tall with reddish hair, large teeth and claws and is reported to have a horrible odor to it. Other reports state that it dislikes water, though a few sightings have occurred around water, one eyewitness even being warned of its presence by its reflection in the water, which he said frightened him badly. Its call is said to be very human-like; a long, loud single vocalization that gradually lowers in pitch as it reaches its close. It is believed that the Mapinguari might be a Megatherium, or giant ground sloth, an animal long thought to be extinct. Expeditions launched in search of the creature have turned up footprints and possible biological samples but no conclusive evidence has yet been found. - entry provided by Alexander Charels, MechWarrior0000@aol.com
