Thank God for cows

It's common knowledge, meaning I can't find the original source for this, that the first eyewitness of the Beast of Gevaudan was saved from its attack by her own cattle.

La Bete is a difficult creature to draw because, unlike the supposed shunka warak'in killed in Montana, there is no single definitive image and the descriptions suggest it may have been a misidentified known animal. I settled on a giant, basically wolflike cryptid with hints of cat.

Excuse me, I meant "head", not "heard. I don't know what he heard.

Comment by: Ella on Aug 24, 2008
Well, go to Google image search and you'll see that the Andrewsarchus had a heard about 12 feet long!

Comment by: cryptid cat on Apr 28, 2008
hey it's La Bete! I did a project on it once. nice picture, by the way.

Comment by: Cryptokreep on Mar 26, 2007

There's a book at my library that says the Beast of Gevaudan was actually the biggest wolf in recorded history. I don't believe that though. I feel bad for the poor cow...getting it's throat torn out and all.

Y'know, this picture made me think, it looks like an Andrewsarchus, I think that is how you spell it, the wolf creature that is related to modern whales. Although according to fossil evidence it is extinct.

It is a very good picture, although I really wish for more.....evidence pictures of cryptids or their tracks, in my opinion this isn't a fan-art forum.

Comment by: Taintedsilver on Jul 30, 2006
The beast of Gevauden I think turnd out to be striped hyenas, this searial killer guy kept them and used them to eat the bodies of his victims attrack attention away from his murders or somthing like that0_o' It was in one of these "strainger than fiction aliens are altering our brain-waves"so Im not sure if its true, but itsa good story- Its also a pretty neat film if you can put up with the half-assed dubbingD

You're kidding, right?

no offence but i would like to see real cryptid pictures more often instead of photoshop, drawings, and a picture of a chinese man with a cardboard bigfoot.

Comment by: nireviper44 on Jul 27, 2006
Very nice!

Comment by: crypted_newby on Jul 25, 2006
wolvs hunt in packs, even dogs have that instinkt to congregate if this was anything wolf then it would defanatly have been with a pack. and even if that thing was alone it most likly could take down that cattle. manny preditors can take down prey many times there size, and they are about the same size.

Comment by: T-Crypto on Jul 12, 2006
Great art, I also enjoy it because I have yet to see a depiction of the beast in a LONG TIME!!!, the last time was on animal planet's animal X then it was canceled again. Why must they breack my heart twice!

Great drawing. One explanation so for the Beast of Gevaudan and the Beast of Bodmin Moore is a wolf-dog hybrid that a murderer trained to kill. From reports it doesn't sound like that to me.

Comment by: Panthera on Jul 05, 2006
That looks great! One of the best recent drawings of the Beast I have seen so far. The detail in the cow and girl is excellent as well.
