Huge arachnoid found and recognised
Posted by Jim Brikiatis, jimbrikiatis@hotmail.com, on Mon, Jul 3 2006, 11:43pm
This huge arachnoid was recently found by me on my garden and it is now kept inside a jar with preservable liguid. I took that pic for you to see how large it is.I recognised it as a CLUBIONA TERRESTRIS (or) a ANGELOPSIS but i am not sure.

Any idea which spiece does it belongs to?

Comment by: sastquetchguy on Nov 14, 2008
it is so plastic end of story

Comment by: Undefined Logic on Jul 06, 2008
He looks like he ate a lot of those nasty critters too! Should be a desert outside now. Yes it is an arachnid. Eight legs, two body portions, and other characteristics correspond. Animals are much more interesting alive and in their natural habitats. People are too.

Comment by: Undefined Logic on Jul 06, 2008
Well way to go dude! Spiders eat all the harmful bugs in your garden! They eat everything that eats your work! It's not doing anything in "preservable fluid" should have took a pic alive and left him alone. YOur whole garden is screwed now.

Any type of liquid that preserves can make something look rubber or plastic. I know from my experience as a Medical Doctor.

Comment by: Jesse R on Aug 21, 2006
I Live in Australia in the bush and come across many spiders. most of them Huntsman or redback. i think the image here is probably real for I recognize the dimples in the abdomen which occurs in most dead spider due to the body losing moisture and thus its surface tension.

Comment by: Ms. Bigfoot to you on Aug 21, 2006
eww.... i was looking at that picture and thinking of the spider that scurried across my sheets while I was trying to read a few nights ago. Which after I became obessed that it wold come back...and it did...Eversince then I have been big-spider-phobic. they are nasty. then when I was looking at your fake toy picture, I felt something move under my leg, so imaginable, i pulled the laptop cords out of it and got out of there as fast as i could. nasty things.

Comment by: bookworm 4675 on Aug 17, 2006
i can't believe anyone would believe that's anything but fake. And i have seen spiders bigger than this everywhere.

Comment by: General_Mexicoy on Aug 04, 2006
if it were real then all the legs would be attached to the cephalothorax, but it looks like a couple of them are on the abdomen

Comment by: Cryptid_Seeker on Aug 04, 2006
Sorry, looks fake to me,but if it is real, its awesome!

Comment by: serendipity on Aug 03, 2006

Comment by: crypted_newby on Jul 25, 2006

Comment by: JigsawQuandryConundrum on Jul 24, 2006
send the picture to whatsthatbug.com, they'll tell you what it is

Comment by: *nessie*lover*5 on Jul 24, 2006
look at his middle finger. it looks crooked maybe the spider broke it lol

Comment by: Ulfkilljoy on Jul 23, 2006
DAMN!!! that is a nasty lookin' bug there! I dislike aracnids in my house especialy running across your arm in the warm summer night!
Say Jim? where do you live? it would give people a better idea of the bugs that can be found in your area. I am up in Alaska and we don't have many strange bugs like that oddity you found there in your yard.

camel spiders are not actuly a spider but a refined type aracnoid that can spin a web.

so I heard...

Comment by: buubaby261979 on Jul 22, 2006
Looks lifelike but I have to agree with the others. It looks too plastic to be considered anything real. Looks cool though.

Comment by: *nessie*lover*5 on Jul 21, 2006

Comment by: cryptidkeeper on Jul 19, 2006

Comment by: Jim Brikiatis on Jul 17, 2006
Sorry, i am trying to send one more pic but it says that there is an error...Just wait for a while and you'll see this better.

Here's an ideaSave the picture in your desktop and zoom in the spider...Do you know many plastic ones that have fair?

Comment by: Moonlight on Jul 15, 2006
I've seen what preservatives can do to spiders, but I can't help but to think that I might have seen that or something like it....
..at Walmart.

dont know what it is but I would freak if I saw it that close to me.I hate spidersonly the big one.

Comment by: guywholiveshere on Jul 08, 2006
For Azra Nogaru
Yes camel spiders are bigger, but they only get to about six inches. Also, they aren't really spiders. they're solpugids, but like spiders they are arachnids.

Comment by: Viashino on Jul 07, 2006
Can you get a better picture? The first pair of legs seems to articulate into the cephalothorax wrong, and there are no pedipalps, which is suggestive of a toy - hence why a better picture would back this up.

Comment by: Loder on Jul 07, 2006
It IS plastic. Next....

Comment by: Blue Cow Spawned on Jul 06, 2006
looks sorta plastic

Comment by: Jim Brikiatis on Jul 06, 2006
You 're not wrong at all. Its because of hethanole, it makes it look pure black, though its belly is a litlle orange-brownish.I'll try to post a better pic maybe,Its head is hard actually! After i found it i was afraid if one of these would ever ender our house...
