shunka drawing

If the shunka warak'in ("carryong off dogs") is the same as the taxidermied animal, photos of which appear on the last couple pages of the gallery, and that was a canid instead of a hyena, this is how I picture it getting its name. The dog is a Carolina dog.

Canid monsters are an old subject for me. I think the shunka's foreleg looks like it merged with the neck -- it's not supposed to look like that, also the torso seems too short, but it was a very quick sketch. Next I'm thinking of doing one of the beast of Gevaudan.

WEREWOLVES DON'T LOOK LIKE THAT. HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISNER OF AZKABAN'S WEREWOLF WAS MOST ACCURATE. EXEPT FOR THE TAIL... NEED LONGER TAIL...

Werewolf, am i right. I've always wanted to become a Werewolf, but everyone thinks it's impossible. Me, nothing having to do with werewolves is impossible. I once had a boyfriend who thought he was a werewolf. I think male werewolves are hot.

I love the action in this picture, but I think that small a Shunka warak'in could be fought off by a dog that size. You should have made it bigger.....

He would not be able to jump like that without breaking his spine. No ofense please you have basic outline to become a true artest.

Hmm, big cats, sharks and crocodyllians seem to like dogmeat. I'm not sure about hyenids either- I mean, you never see them go after african wildcape hunting dogs- let's just call it Lycaon pictus!!??- Do you? Ace drawing by the way! I'd say it looks a bit like a BROWN hyena tho... wow, I might post one or two of my chupas here.

One of my favorite subjects drawn skilfully. Thanks!

Very interesting. Sort of looks like a striped hyena. I have often wondered about the described behavior of the creature attacking dogs. Canids like wolves don't usually go after dogs as prey as much as Felids like leopards do. Not sure about other animals like hyenas.
