I was going through some old photo albums and found this pic from the late 1970's of an Albino Peacock at the San Diego Zoo.

um.... albino peacocks aren't cryptids. just rare. what happened to cryptozoology being about cryptids? there's just pics up- drawing and stuff like that. not... cryptids...

In Japan they have an entire city dedicated to them on an Island who's name escapes me, I visited there twice. Its close to Kyoto. There's also a shrine near the Kiyumizu Temple in Kyoto that has a flock of them.

I have albino peacocks here their very beautiful and elegant birds. And they due mate with other albinos why do you think their are so many different types of albinos in the world.

that is such a cute peacock. where was it found?

Comment by: aniki on Aug 13, 2007
purty bird

Comment by: Alchemical on Aug 04, 2007
And it is completely untrue that it won't mate. Breeders have no trouble producing offspring from white and pied peacocks.

Comment by: Alchemical on Aug 04, 2007
They're not albino... Peafowl don't have the genes needed to create an albino offspring. They're just a mutation, and if you think this is cool you should see some of the other colors they come in.

Is this significant in some way I can't see?

Comment by: AbeLincoln_ROCKZ_ on Jun 13, 2007
It is only partialy albino. If its feathers are white but it's eyes are normally pigmented like in this pic it is not fully albino.

Comment by: cryptocole on May 20, 2007

What Amo* says is correct... And not only will they not be recognized by a potential mate as attractive in certain primitive societies they would be killed and their components used as powders and talismans... Thank Goodness this is an All-American!

Comment by: ill-tell-what-i-think on May 08, 2006

I've seen one too! They're adorable, this male probably won't ever get a mate though . . . the peahens judge males by the number of eyelike thingies on their tails, nice pic anyway. Amo*
