Cryptid Catcher
I couldn't disagree more with you due to the fact that the human species is designed and bred to use mechanical tools. Even our earliest ancestors used sticks and clubs to help in every day life. The human hand is an example of our being completely designed to craft and manage tools. Our hand is unlike any other, able to perform the most intricate tasks. The human brain is also a good example of this. It is built in such a way that we can comprehend complex processes, such as how tying a stick to a rock creates a hammer. We are able to put ideas, materials, even numbers together and solve and overcome the hardships of survival. Even with the genius of the human brain and the wonder of the opposable thumb, we lack miserably in every other category of survival. For example, our hands and feet lack the necessary claws to till the soil for planting, our skin lacks the proper protection from the elements and harsh weather, our legs dont have the speed to chase andor escape from other animals, our jaws and teeth have little power compared to most other species, we even lack the brute size and strength to defend ourselves from the weakest of predators even deer have very deadly hooves and antlers for defense. The most devastating handicap of all if our weak sense of instinct the very drive that tells us how to survive. If you were to put a group of people out it the middle of the forest without the use of man-made tools no clothes, radios and PBJ sandwiches - wouldnt want to cheat - they would die within a couple of days merely from exposure alone. Most animals have their tools from birth. Felines have everything they need to be the best killer on the planet. They are entirely designed to chase, kill, digest meat, use their retractable claws for fast, silent travel and to keep their claws safe and sharp until they are needed, use movement-sensitive eyes, which are necessary for locating and chasing prey, and even use the blood grooves on their teeth to allow blood to flow while latched on for the kill - a design that is put into most hunting and combat knives today. A mountain lion is far superior in hunting than I could ever wish to be. Even with my gun I'm lucky some years to see a deer, let alone harvest one. Mountain lions, on the other hand, will kill around 48 deer, elk, or moose a year - that is near one a week. Migratory birds have a built-in navigation device in their body. The biological tools of animals range from deadly poisons to chemical defense, thick skin, warm fur, radar batswhales, and extreme sensory abilities. You see, humans biological tools are their abilities to be innovative and to create and manage tools. To say that using spears, bows, or guns for hunting is to cheat, then you would also be saying that wearing clothes for warmth, riding bikes, horses, or driving cars to travel, using machinery to plant and harvest crops for food, or to even use medical assistance to cure and prevent disease would also be cheating. I dont see using a man-made tool for hunting as cheating - we are simply using the the only tool available to humans - our unique ability to reason and be innovative. In fact, we wouldnt even be discussing this if it weren't for the innovation of our ancestors who used clubs and spears for hunting and wore animal skin to stay warm. |
