Er, for info, the leech pic I posted for a bit of fun is the Giant Amazonian Leech Haementeria ghilianii that was rediscovered in the 1970's after not been seen for the best part of a century, not the terrestial one just named.
And yes, Haementeria does drink blood. Not with a bite but with a six-inch proboscis O.o |

As we're all lovers of off-the-wall creatures I'd just make sure everyone is familiar with Placobdelloides jaegerskioeldi, an African leech that only breeds inside hippo's rectums.
