"except shoot lightning"
Electric Eel. Yes, I know they live in water and they're not worms, but they do wield electricity as a weapon.
"acid spitting worm"
the Velvet Worm can. Well, it's chemically far more similar to the glue the Ancient Romans used to make their armor (which is more WTF IMO) but they can still shoot it as far as 30 cm. Especially cool because they are tiny, in at 0.5 to 20 cm.
And becides, some cobras can spit their venom. |

Nature's amazing.
Also, for the record, I'm not saying the Death Worm is exactly what people say it is. I'm just saying that everything they say it can do is possible. |

In my opinion, producing conductive electricity in an aquatic environment is nowhere near the same thing as shooting lightning. Hell, I can generate electricity, too, if I walk across a carpet on a cool, dry morning. And my spit is a corrosive chemical, primarily used to start the digestive process of food digestion. Acidic maybe, but not acid. |

We also have to keep in mind that the telephone game may be at work. It could very well be a sort of under ground spitting cobra thats been exaggerated. |
