Subject: Pineapple Express From: KodiakKeith posted Sat, Oct 24 2009, 2:17pm  I live in a war zone between two great weather patterns. We get moist tropical low pressure systems from the south, and dry arctic high pressure systems from the north. Last weekend, we had a huge low pressure system from the south (a "pineapple express") hit the edge of a high pressure system sitting over us. The result was the edge froze over us and created a wind storm with torrential rains (10 inches in 36 hours) that brought the mountainsides down across the road in half a dozen places between here and town. We were cut off for a couple of days and lost power sporadically. It's all good now. This morning, I checked my camera and realized some pictures taken last Friday actually caught the beginning of this low pressure front hitting us. On the way home from work, I pulled off the road and took a few shots of the front coming in and covering the mountains to the south - I was just trying to capture the waterfall effect of these clouds pouring over the mountains at sundown. I didn't realize what an ominous storm it really was. Behind me, the skies were blue with pleasant arctic high pressure. Kind of neat... Now THAT was a scary movie. And this next one about alien abductions, oh what was it now..... ah yes, The Fourth Kind, now that will be a really creapy movie.. the first minute of the trailer explains it.. Especially when I'm watching a horror flick at like 1am, and the lights are out. "creeeeeek....creeeeeeeeeeeeeeek......BAM!" "Crap! What was that!!" I never do find out. I here something and i usually am watching one of the saws, or another scary movie.You just dont know what it is, but it just scares the crap outta you. I just look foreward. They were really getting into it when we heard a huge thump on the roof and then what sounded like footsteps walking across it. Needless to say the wife and kid were just about in hysterics at this point. So I went out to the backyard to see if I could see anything, but I couldn't find the cause of the noise or anything out of the ordinary. So I went back inside, I had just sat down at my computer in the den when I heard the footsteps on the roof again, I ran back outside with flashlight in hand and scanned the roof again. Just as I was about to go back inside I heard the footsteps again this time they were right above me. I turned and looked up and was amazed to see the hugest raccoon I have ever seen, he looked like a rottweiler. Apparently he was in the maple tree next to the house and lost his grip and fell onto the roof. By the way he was walking he must of given himself a charlie horse or something and was trying to walk it off. We both ran out to the side of the house where the sound came from. Nothing there. Nobody anywhere.
