Ben, good post. The sad part is that the sighting was from such a great distance and that there is nothing to support the conclusion of BF.

Like you, I have a friend and neighbor who is one hell of a hunter. I've been up into the Oregon Coast Range with him a couple of times, and I wouldn't be surprised if this guy could track a squirrel across gravel LOL. He and his brother set up a hunting camp in Fall in an area that they scout out continually during the year. It is in an area that there have been several reports of BF sightings. My neighbor spends probably a month or two total each in that area. He laughs about the reports and says that he has never seen an animal that he didn't recognize, never heard a sound that he couldn't explain, and never saw a track he couldn't identify. What I'm getting at is that if he came back one time and told me something like you were told by your friend, it would give me pause about the skepticism.

My skeptic nature on BF keeps me on the skeptical side of the fence, but it would be nice if someone found a BF out there some day........
