I would suggest notifying the local police, if things escalate with this person who's trap you smashed, you will want it on record that they had commited prior violations.

Yes, It was a very lucky little raccoon. I think i have found out who is responsible for setting it as well. I was talking with one of my neighbors and he said that his sons raccoon trap had been smashed to bits by a bear or somthing trying to get to the bait. I just laughed to myself. He also asked me if He could hunt on my property I told him; no, to treat it as a game reserve. |

You should also quietly let him know that trespassers can be prosecuted. ;)
On an unrelated note, your writing is improving, both in your blog and in your general posts. Keep up the good work. |

Generally, raccoons are a cute nuisance. But...they were trapping them on your property. I can understand setting a live trap on their property to relocate troublesome pests, but not on someone else's. I wouldn't have smashed the cage. I'd have released the coon, then buried a car battery under the cage which would have been wired to the bottom of the it. See who traps on my property again. |

Sounds like a good idea Tony. It would be a very shocking experience for them. |
