Actually, the most probable theory is "hoax".

Pretty much but alot of people dont believe it to be the spiky big eyed and alien kind instead of the monkey kind. But everyone has their own reasons for what and what not to believe although myths and other things may be tall tales or just crazy, most myths come from something. Either way we may never know the truth.

I have family living in the mountins (country) in Puerto Rico. They say it's monkeys. That at night, people who dont have cable tv, have never been to zoo's might not recognise a monkey and think it's something other worldy. Keeping in mind there arent suposed to be monkeys in Puerto Rico. These monkeys are released monkeys from a lab back in the late 70's early 80s.

Hey Kim havent seen you around in a bit. Well your right about people not recognizing a monkey and your right about monkeys not suppose to be in Puerto Rico but when I was living over there I saw this news report that mentioned something about monkeys destroying crops and how they are becoming a problem for farmers and it also mentioned that there might be less than 100 monkeys around the island or an entire breeding population. I have seen them before but they mostly hide in the mountains or the woods once they see you.
