Subject: New info about my "Rose"
From: /PJ posted Thu, Jul 30 2009, 12:02am
As some of you may remember, I claimed that I had an old woman spectre hanging out in my house. I did an investigation into the house and found out who owned it previously etc...and found out it was originally built for the first pharmacist in the Steinbach area, and I thought perhaps it was THEM still "here" so to speak. It fit with what we were seeing. An old woman rocking babies in the sun porch on the front of the house.

I finally got verification of "Rose" from my (almost 90 year old) neighbour today! This house was originally on a plot of land about 65 miles east of here, and it indeed was owned (at one time) by a doctor and his wife , who was a midwife nicknamed "rosey" when she was a young girl because she had chubby and rosey cheeks! One of the other men I was talking to today also says he can remember her as an old woman, and she STILL delivered babies well into her 80s. It was easier for her to get to the farm houses than for the farmers to pack up their pregnant wives and come into the (then) tiny hospital to have babies.

So, Rose was apparently a real person (Real name was Margaret McAdams BTW). I won't argue the fact that I have no proof of her still being here and visiting us, but I hope she was content with us living here. We'll be saying our goodbyes to her tomorrow. I wonder if she'll show up, one last time?
