Are you planning on another Blog soon, Ger? Seeker is churning 'em out, but otherwise I am having to work my way back through old blogs from the early 80's, to find something intelligent to read. Pweeeeeeeeeeze? |

BD,
The problem is not writing blogs, but coming up with ideas for blogs. Honestly it's a challenge not to just rehash the same ole, same ole.
I once had a discussion with Gerry about the difficulty of coming up with themes for cryptoblogs, and how difficult it is. Many things have been discussed to death, coming up with a new spin on old stuff is hard.
btw 2 blogs in 8 months (mine) isn't really lighting up the world..... ;-)

Well, compared to some of the other bloggers, you're just a churnin' them out.
Here's a few ideas for you to consider:
The number one assumption about Bigfoot, is, if it exists, it's a primate. From that fairly reasonable assumption, a lot of other, less reasonable assumptions get made, until we get to the whole "asking for garlic" bit. But, what if that assumption is wrong? What if the large hairy biped shape is an example of convergent evolution? Consider the panda. Both the Red Panda and Giant Panda have evolved a similar "thumb", yet they stem from different ancestral lines. On a longer timeline, consider dolphins and icthyosaurids.
Although the "echo-location" recorded in Champ's neighborhood is fascinating, has it ever been compared with the signal from commercial "fish finders"?
Who are the "usual suspects" when it comes to mis-identified animals as cryptid sightings? (e.g. Herons as pterosaurs) Frankly, a good inclusive list like that might go a long way toward getting folks to think about what they're looking at.
Let's say Bill Gates calls you out of the blue, and says he wants to have a cryptid proven to exist. He'll foot the bills, but he wants to know what you're going after. Given those deep pockets, which cryptid would you tell him you're going after, and why? Bonus points for a discussion of the methods you'd use, and where you'd look.
There ya go ... just a few ideas for your copious spare time. |

Hawk,
Great minds think alike...I've sorta glancingly talked about Champ's voice in the past, and on my copious "to-do" list is an examination of that topic (since I've admitted my love for lake monsters..)
In discussion in threads I've suggested an number of misidentified chitters, perhaps a more thorough treatise is required....
I LOVE the last one. Another topic that was covered in a thread about "if you win the lottery what are you gonna do?"
but you posted these in Gerry's blog...I wouldn't dare consider stealing them from Mr. Bacon.
Besides, I'm not done with Nessie yet.
Cheers, Seeker |

Well, since I posted them publicly, the ideas are kind of out there for the grabbing by anybody to run with. It could be argued that you'd be stealing them from me, not Gerry. ;-)
But, to satisfy everyone's ethics, I'll go on the record as stating that any blog idea I toss out can be used by any of our CZ.com bloggers (and, yes, that includes Phil) with one minor stipulation: If anybody ever does a book based on an idea they got from me, I get a free copy to donate to the library where my late mother served as librarian for so many years. |
