Just a note, I'm a research nut with a strong scientific background. I'de be happy to help you hunt down anything I can from the states. I think I have seen the picture your speaking of, If not, I am imagining it really well, but I seem to recall it being posted on an evolution display at my college alonge with the hobbits announcement and similar stuff. Though I am not sure. Looked like it was pulled from an old Nat Geographic if I remember the layout right. Anyway, what I wanted to post to you about though was the stone circle. I have seen it before. The islands are full of them. Even Hawaii has them. They are created by 'the little people' all the islands have tales of little people. When I was doing research on fairies and what was the reality behind the folk lore the standing stone legands took me to the menhues, I can't recall if thats the name for the stones or the little people on Hawaii right now. I am pretty sure its the Stones though. Anyway, the patterns are similar in construction to the standing stone layouts (Long rows and circles) and assumed to be for similar reasons. The Hawaiian Little folk are dark haired though and peaceful. Difrent critter. I have heard the cave burning legend before as well. Though I can't recall to which little people it was atributed to. I was doing research on homonoids/hominids a while back and read up on a LOT of legends which are all running together now I'm afraid. If any of this is of interest to you, or if I can help do grunt research in any way, just let me know, be happy to assist. Best of luck to you. Rowan |
