After reading your story, I've decided you're either a liar or an idiot. If some animal was killing your chickens consistently, you would have done something other than let them die night after night after night. When I worked in the photo electronics department of a store, one night I played a trick on my manager, who the next day would be working his last day before a two week vacation. I set the alarm for the alarm clock display so that each one was set a minute apart. I set them to go off when I knew the cashier would be on her lunch and the price changer would be on her break. First one went off, he went back and hit 'Sleep'. He walked back to the front of the department, probably stood there for about 15 seconds, and the next alarm went off. He walked to the other end, turned off the ringing alarm, and then went back to the front. Third alarm went off and he walks to the alarm display and unplugs them all.
How do you lose a chicken every night and not sit behind the coop with a shotgun by the third night to unplug all the alarms? So, you're either a liar who made this story up or you're a complete moron who let your chickens die over and over, thereby costing you money. Which is it?
Also, if something like this came to your house consistently and you were able to get that good of a view of it, why not trap it? If you were unwilling to hideout near the chicken coop, you at least knew it was going to be there. Set a trap to capture it. |
