Demons, I believe in. But I seriously doubt that "sage, sea salt, and holy water" repel anything. |

the sea salt will certainly work on slugs. slugs must be demons too :D.
demons may be part of the Christian worldview but the idea that anything physical like an herb or a mineral would affect such a being comes from unrelated superstitions and doesn't make sense anyway.
I'm with you on this one FalconStorm.

I agree. I think there might be unexplainable evil forces, and if there areI highly doubt anything material of this world can stop them. |

all cultures that traditionally believed in demons also believed in literal magic and the efficacy of physical charms and the magical properties of certain substances. the belief in demons/spirits and the belief in magic are historically related -and supported by exactly the same types and quantities of "evidence".
if you believe that demons are real entities, who are you to say that they don't respond to ritual and sacred substances? burning herbs, salt, and yes holy waters and oils, all have looooong traditions of having the power to effect the spirit realm. after all, if demons can effect the physical world then the physical world ought to be able to sometimes effect them (in combination with human intent, ritual, and emotions).
not that i'm buying the OP's "demon chupa" post....... |

Luna, I have never had any experiences with demons. All I know is how Jesus and the apostles dealt with them. They didn't rely on herbs or holy water or things made with hands of men but simply used prayer, the name of Jesus, and the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome them. |

Look, I don't care what you call it: Quantum Mechanics, the power of Faith, or Divine intervention, but prayers, no matter what religion or language they are in, be it Native American, Hindu, Jewish, Christian, Muslim, whatever, have an effect. I've seen the power of prayer and Faith. If you don't believe in G_d, call it mind over matter. You can call it Allah, Yaweh, Jesus, Sheiba, Creator, whatever, but it works. Scientists have actually shown that electrons act differently when we think about them. This is a scientific fact. However, I do not believe that there are demonic entities infesting our living realm. I think most "demons" are physical manifestations of our own negative energy. They are potent none the less, but these "beings", i believe, are not traditional "fire and brimstone" demons. Finally, I must say that the story is quite suspect. It sounds like a young child's short story: My dogs got hurt, but they eventually beat the big, bad monster. I'm sorry, I simply just don't believe you...
