The amendment also allows Congress to block federal funding to contractors who have arbitration clauses in their employment agreements, which prevents employees from pursuing legal action, as was the case of a Halliburton employee that charges she was raped by several coworkers while working in Iraq.
None of that is true. Arbitration has nothing to do with legal criminal proceedings. It's just another pay off to the trial lawyer lobby, so that workplace disputes are forced into the courts to enrich lawyers.

You're right in that, "Arbitration has nothing to do with legal criminal proceedings", but it arbitration in civil matters (restitution for illegal acts) is handled in civil proceedings.
Seeking restitution for a wrong by using an attorney instead of a bullet is by far the better of the two options. |

To problems with this law as far as the conservatives are concerned, one it was introduced by Franken and two, it does not protect companies like Haliburton end of story. Those who voted no could care less about that poor girl and what happened to her. |

Regardless of how one feels about Franken (I'm not a supporter) it can at least be said that he's earning his salary by working. And not only that, working on legislation that is intended to benefit an individual rather than the interests of big business.
There isn't ONE member of the GOP in either house of Congress that has put forth a legitimate legislative effort in this session. Not one. And then they have the nerve to act all self righteous...no...PIOUS in their criticisms of anything outside their political agenda...whatever in the hell that might be. I don't think even they know at this point.
Banding together to vote against Franken's amendment should come back to bite them in the ass when they're up for re-election, and I for one will be laughing heartily. |

In summary then, it's perfectly acceptable for big business to operate by their own set of rules and get RICH RICH RICH in the process, but anything that might provide recourse to a victim and/or put money into the pockets of attorney is just plain wrong. This line of thinking pops up frequently in your posts, and it makes absolutely no sense.
None of that is true. Arbitration has nothing to do with legal criminal proceedings. It's just another pay off to the trial lawyer lobby, so that workplace disputes are forced into the courts to enrich lawyers. |

It makes perfect sense if your idea of perfect government falls in line with what went on with the "Great" houses of Europe in the middle ages. |

Well, it certainly seems by the actions of GOP lawmakers and those that support them, that they favor a return to the feudal system. We don't need a middle class...just the really rich and the lowly poor.
We should feel grateful just for the opportunity to grovel at the feet of our corporate overlords. |
