Added 4 new photos.
Top right is the ever-elusive Cannonsquatch and was taken by Mrs. Cannonsquatch right by Doerhner Fir, the world's largest Douglas Fir tree.
Photo #1 is a Picture of the Day from National Geographic which I find beyond fascinating. It may be my favorite photo that I've ever seen and I could stare at it for hours, I think. Absolutely brilliant.
Photo #2 is taken at Hemlock Falls this Spring. I actually "tried" on this one and it turned out okay; about as I expected but not what I had hoped.
Photo #3 was taken at Diamond Lake about 2 years ago, maybe 3. I was trying to take a real photo of the lake, but the sun was too bright. I hid behind a tree and snapped a pic or two, then realized the cool effect that caused. This was the best of those gimmicky attempts. |

Photos 2 & 3 are stunning in ways I can't quite express. Photo 1 looks like an Alaskan joyrider in an oildrum. |

Photo 3 looks like a scene from 'Close Encounters'. very cool.
This first photo, I find it strange that everyone watching is so indifferent to what is going on. This guy is mere inches away from them and one tiny minute wrong move, or a beer or two too many, and this guy could wipe them out in a heartbeat. |

The colors, the look on his face, the posture, the mayhem going on and the lax behavior of the audience (as you pointed out), the broken wood, rusty rails; such a remarkable photo. I think if I had taken it, I'd never do anything creative again.
The coolest thing about the last one is that it was taken in the morning and I think that most people can figure that part out, but there's a certain idea that pops in your head that it could be the middle of the night and something cool happening and that's what you're thinking about when you take your last blink before moving on. |
