Of course deforestation is bad thing (unless you're a hungry man in Kenya who wants some land to farm). But that's a separate subject, I'm merely addressing the subject of the thread which is based on a faulty premise.

Isn't deforestation a direct cause of man-made climate change?

yes and yes. people often totally underestimate/just don't know the details that make this so complex.

for example, trees of different species all "breath" notable amounts of moisture into the air around them in the process of exchanging atmospheric carbon dioxide and oxygen in their metabolic processes. and this has a direct and observable effect on the micro-climate of the forested area. when you notice it's cooler in the woods than in the meadow you are noticing more than just the presence of shade. how this directly effects local weather and the larger climate is often forgotten. there are also other things related to ground water and evaporation rates that also effect the local micro-climate and larger whole earth systems far beyond how living plants interact with atmospheric gasses.

One can't debate with a fundamentalist, Luna.

Nor can one debate with a drunk.

Two drunks debating isn't any worse than two sober people debating except they're funnier. If any of you worry about affecting the planet as if it's a big chubby baby vulnerable to humans, then stop breeding and stop driving and stop using electricity, live in the wild but watch those campfires, then maybe some scientific measurement in a few hundred years would prove you correct, they just won't be your descendants measuring, but whatever the dynamic it's not that I disagree, it's that I don't care. We did it in the seventies while everyone who told us to do it were either wrong about their data or got rich from preaching, or both and became politicians.
Thawing out the frozen poles would be a science ficiton dream come true and instead it is fear-marketed as a catastrophe by creepy people wanting something in their own lifetimes and don't care what hell happens after. Green peace went militant and red is the new green, a haven for violent people looking for self righteous reasons to destroy stuff because they can't have their way, same as punks with pipebombs using religion. I'm for green peaks and a higher water table. Is it hot in here or just the propoganda?

I agree. The whole global warming hysteria is a silly waste of time and resources.

More laughable lies, komrade? Why, I'd have thought your recent retraction of those lies was to be trusted as sincere. Seems I was wrong on that one. Shocker!

I'll try to explain again how it works. When you drop into a thread and insult me with a lie (as you just did), you open yourself to insults in return. I only respond to your sewer crawling, I don't start it.

Where did I lie about you?

By calling you a fundamentalist?

I was referring to the poster Luna was replying to.

Not even a good try, Kodi-waaaaaaa-kKeith.
