The Lindworm or Lindwurm is a kind of dragon. Sometimes it has 4, sometimes 2 and sometimes no feet at all. It is mainly of german origin. There are some cases known in which fossils of dinosaurs (like plateosaurus) or other prehistoric animals where missinterpretated as dragon bones. There is also a similar mythological animal from Scandinavia, the Lindorm. |

Wurm is in fact a word. It is the german word for worm, and the snake-like dragons without or with only two legs are called lindwurm (or in plural: Lindwürmer). |

"Wurm" is worm in German. I think it is the Swiss who have a cryptid called the Tazelwurm which fits the Lindworm description. |

The Tatzelwurm is known as a more or less folkloristic cryptid from the alpine parts of Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy. |
