Subject: Captive-bred echidnas..

Echidas are notoriously difficult to breed in captivity. Perth Zoo has been researching breeding short-beaked echidnas in the hope of relating that knowledge to the long-beaked echidna that was recently rediscovered after nearly half a century.
Pics of this year's babies were released today:

Baby echidnas make first appearance at Perth Zoo

They're so ugly they're cute (I think).

Wow, if that's the short-beaked echidna, how long are the beaks on the long-beaked echidnas?

No, wait, don't tell me..............I'll Google them myself.

Puggles aren't ugly, they look very cool, the ugly stage is when they start growing the spikes. When they are fresh they look very cute, and when they are older they have a degree of beauty, it's the in between bit that isn't that good.

Here's a tiny puggle rescued from the wild.
Apparently echidnas don't have nipples, females exude milk through their skin O.o

That said, it was a sad day for me when I learned how mammalian breasts evolved from sweat glands...
