All of the creatures pictured are real animals. They are deep sea fish and have been recognized for years. The only one that I haven't seen before is the one that looks like a moldy tadpole. The nature of a tsunami brings coastal fish inland but would not pull fish out of the abyss and bring them inshore. This is obviously preserved specimens at a research facility and not stuff that was found on a tropical beach.

The other false statement is the fish can suffer from the bends. That is cauaed by gassious nitrogen in the blood from atnospheric air. The thing that can happen to fish if they come up to fast is their swim bladder will distend (which can kill them) but noe of these fish have distended swim bladders.

I still tink that the Chimera fish (mid left of the photos) is cute. It strikes me humourously that people considered these fish undiscovered i'm 15 now and I knew about more than half the fish on those slabs when I was 6 years old, I don't remember names but I remember what they looked like, they were all in my "Whats Under the sea" book (like wheres waldo with fish) Whats that spikey crab thing called thats a new one on me.
