T. rex's Oldest Relative "Discovered" | LiveScience
*Proceratosaurus* is yet another therapod that was assigned to older "Wastebasket" taxon, (Megalosaurs and Ceratosaurs) before being reassigned to the Tyrannosauroid Coelurosaurs.
Wiki has a fairly decent Cladogram
One thing that is incorrect in the wiki is the idea that only some or most coelurosaurs are believed to have had feathers, it is likely all of them did in one form or another, since most of the basal clades have turned up members with primitive simple vane feathers. Also, the discovery of *Tianyulong, a very primitive ornithischian with feathers have given big credence to the idea that the last common ancestor of all Dinosauria was feathered. |
