I'm not as impressed with him as I was decades ago. Lenny Bruce did a lot of the pioneer work that made Carlin famous. He could sure be funny and insightful sometimes.

I got very angry about his 'commentary' about the first Gulf war - stating that we were good at blowing up brown people.

When one nation, whatever color, invades another, and you have treaty obligations to help defend them, you step in.

Yes, of course Carlin was discriminating. The US is very good at blowing up "people" in general, regardeless of color or any other characteristic.

That was what was pointed out on past post (time ago) and the answer was...mmm...something like "man, that's what we DO!". I confess I'm a bit Confucius.

You know, all that army laying around inactive and the weapons industry at idle...

I submit that defending Kuwait against the invading Iraqi forces was a good use of force, regardless of the skin color of those involved. That's what Carlin was complaining about.

I've forgotten what Carlin was saying...about Kuwait and defending and Saddam, if ti were as simple as you paint it, you would be right, but IMO and unfortunately isn't.

My own opinion about that war is that the US should have ended with Saddam at the time. Lost a perfect occasion. Man, you had him under your thumb. Squash!.

Tough call. GHW Bush was praised for building a coalition, and stopping short was considered necessary.

Here's a very satirical song about US foreign policy, called Political Science:

Unfortunately, while I could enjoy the song (a little) I couldn't understand but that he wants to drop the Big One, because he has a nose conditon, it seems. Let's buy the man a six-pack so he stops thinking about The Big One, I say...

That's a New Orleans mumble, and not easy for all Americans.

No one likes us-I don't know why
We may not be perfect, but heaven knows we try
But all around, even our old friends put us down
Let's drop the big one and see what happens

We give them money-but are they grateful?
No, they're spiteful and they're hateful
They don't respect us-so let's surprise them
We'll drop the big one and pulverize them

Asia's crowded and Europe's too old
Africa is far too hot
And Canada's too cold
And South America stole our name
Let's drop the big one
There'll be no one left to blame us

We'll save Australia
Don't wanna hurt no kangaroo
We'll build an All American amusement park there
They got surfin', too

Boom goes London and boom Paris
More room for you and more room for me
And every city the whole world round
Will just be another American town
Oh, how peaceful it will be
We'll set everybody free
You'll wear a Japanese kimono babe
And there'll be Italian shoes for me

They all hate us anyhow
So let's drop the big one now
Let's drop the big one now
