everyone should visit this (or related stories w/pics) to understand just how weird bald bears can look.
it's not at all improbable that somewhere in the world hairless bears (from, mange, genetic fluke, "stress" or "unknown" like this zoo story) have sparked "unknown hominid/dogman" sightings. |

Rather reminiscent of the so called Chupacabra quadruped here in the States, yes?
I'm no vet, but it sure looks like the same kind of skin condition to me.. |

well, the nature of "chupas"
scroll down to the end for my part and take on how the mythology correlates to the "beasties". |

From a professional point of view, these bears appear to be suffering from sarcoptic mange, to which bears are every bit as susceptible as dogs.
There are other possibilities, which are less likely. For instance, some drugs can cause skin infections and alopecia. But I can't think of any that would be prescribed to bears for any reason.
Another possibility would be maybe a food ingredient or contaminant, but once again, that seems far less likely than mange. |

I was thinking that also. What if a hairless bear was some of the dogman sightings. In fact, I'm starting to think the werewolf sightings are unknown bald variety of bears that are bipedal. |

That's a fairly ugly animal. If I saw that in the wild, I'd be convinced I'd seen something new. |
