I think this might qualify for the sea monsters forum. Luckily, no one was hurt.

Brainless fishermen??? :-)

When I read the title, I thought it was one 1 ton jellyfish and not dozens. Damn you, English Language! LOL

no, but each jelly can be a quarter-ton a piece... fricking huge, and social, they naturally are found round japan seasonally in swarms, thought to be mating related. a 400-500lb jellyfish is plenty big!

See, that's why the plural of fish should be fishes, and sheep should be sheeps. I clicked on here hoping to see a giant 2 ton creature spawned from radioactive waste, bent on destruction. But I find, instead, wimpy 200kg blobs. Shame on you Telegraph for ruining a young mans dreams, shame.

Yikes, these are sea monsters to me! I remember getting stung in Connemara by the little purple kinds, and just couldn't get away from them, there were so many. I can't imagine being tossed overboard among these icky blobs and having them bob into my whole self!

Mess with the bull, you get the horn. I really lack any amount of compassion for Japan, considering their fishing policies.
