Am I a Cryptozoologist? I don’t know, I’ve been called worse.
In 1977 I investigated the Lawndale, Illinois Thunderbird reports of the Lowe family. (Article on this site)
In 1994 I created and produced the “Myth or Real” collector card series.
In 2003 my first full length work was released in the form of a book called “Strange Highways”.
In 2006 the sequel “More Strange Highways” was released.
And in the midst of the above -- articles can be found from: Fate Magazine, Strange Magazine, various newspapers, and Cryptozoological books. I’ve done a few radio broadcasts and guest appearances on local television programs.

As most of you know I was diagnosed with cancer in April of 2008. However, few of you know of the details. What follows is the short story of events since that time.
But first I would like to thank the ones which sent me e-mails, phone calls and even snail mail notes that cheered me up, you showed me your care and concern as well as personal effort with no reward. But rewarded you were, in my heart. Thank you.
Okay, here it is ~ in the nutshell ~ they found two different types of cancer in my neck. So after three operations and many, many, many trips to Doctors and Hospitals and over 25 straight days of radiation treatments my latest P.E.T. Scan revived shocking news ~ but more on that later.
Half my neck is gone, yet it appears almost normal looking ( although I do wear turtle necks and scarf’s when out and about). I can talk but I sound a little different. I can’t sing or scream anymore ~ not that I ever did much of that anyway. But The Beatles and Elvis songs I so enjoy are now “talked-along-with” rather than sing in the shower.
Top-Dog Cryptozoologist Loren Coleman called me numerous times early on, to check on me, but I never hooked up because I was either in the hospital, doctors office or sleeping 18 to 22 hours a day then spending my few waking hours planning my death. I did donate my entire body to the University of Tennessee’s Anthropology Department, so when I’m gone stop by and say hello ~ I’ll be the bony guy in the corner.
My other brother Bill Coleman just spent 18 days here visiting. He’s a Viet Nam hero and now very, very sick himself but made the trip from California and I enjoyed every minute with him and his wife Kris. I’m very proud of my brothers.
Tammy, my young beautiful girlfriend has gone to and drove me to each and every one of my appointments. She has sit for hours during the operations. She , as a nurse, has totally taken care of me ~ even on those days, which all too often to mention that I did not know what day of the week it was or even what year. She put up with many crazy outbursts and mood changes I had, but finally my meds have kicked in and my energy level and mind has somewhat returned.
I don’t get on the computer much anymore, I spend little time in front of the TV and I don‘t talk on the phone much at all.. I spend my time enjoying simple things ( as boring to many as playing with my dogs, watching the sun rise, bird watching) or cleaning out stuff I know would only be left for someone else to get rid of.
So anyway back to the P.E.T Scan ~ it showed I was cancer free ! So that night me , Tammy and a couple of very close friends went out to the Marina were my good friends Bob Coppen (McCall) and Gerry Bacon went when they visited me a couple of years ago, anyway we celebrated the good news of the scan and I even drank a couple of beers!

Large Bones were DISCOVERED in Tennessee ~ Loren Coleman has been notified. Bones might be shipped to Loren Coleman soon ~ stay posted to his site for future developments!
The bones were unearthed by a dog (Tennessee Walker / Redtick breed).
The large bone measures 14 inches long and 13 inches at the joint, the other bone is almost as large.
Bear? Elk? Bigfoot??????
Now on to the next story ~
I just learned today that I have cancer.
Everything comes in three’s so they say ~ my mother died last week, my brother, Bill was rushed to the hospital and now me. It has not been a good month ! NOT !!!
However, I feel life has been good to me for the most part. I have loved a number of great people. I have had 5 beautiful children. I have worked at a number of awesome jobs and all along Cryptozoology has been a driving force of serious and even quiet times .
My books, though sloppy in many spots, tell the truth, the entire truth ~ Strange Highways and More Strange Highways expresses one researchers findings, views and personal opinions. When I die ~ only known to some as a researcher ~ let it be known ~ I always tried to give a truthful evaluation ~ nothing more, nothing less!

Some people who claim to be Cryptozoological researchers are no more than computer crypto-players, playing to the naive. And some people who claim to be Crypto-investigators are no more than Crypto-googlers, who attempt to fool their readers with false experience and/ or knowledge.
Yes, beware, for those who appear so smart or so willing to feed you another tall tale are nothing more than bored, broke, attention grabbing, egotistical individuals hoping that you will buy into their next book, post, article, show or simply send a mindless donation!
I have enlisted many people over my years of Cryptozoological Research and Investigations. And I can count on my hands the few, yes the very few that have stepped up to the plate with sincerity, devotion to the task, integrity and most importantly selfishness, who are : Robert Coppen, Gerry Bacon, Mark O’Sullivan, Randy (Kraken), Mark Chorvinsky, Tammy Christian, Cathy Miller and etc.... . However, on the other hand I can’t count how many individuals have failed to perform - dare I list them? No, not at this time. But if push comes to shove I will release their names and their “tricks”. I hope I am not pushed into that corner.
Folks, please - think in real terms, seek real answers and don’t take to heart anything if the teller of the story is not willing to tell you their real name, give you a phone number or address or can at least leave you with real true contact names, places and dates !

It’s 2008 - I’m getting older, wiser perhaps and much more ready to state the facts as I see them. Many people allow ego’s, agenda’s and faith to rule their path, guide their way or lock them into a story/tale they soon find is harder to get out of than it was to get into.
Cryptozoology should be about truth : documentation - fact - hard evidence - proven/repeated tests and undeniable encounters. We who are true investigators, we who are devoted researchers, seek not the far fetched tales of fantasy but rather seek the solid evidence. The fantasy should be left for those who argue undocumented tales rather than documented occurrences.
It is not all that complicated if one thinks about it. For years, people like Loren Coleman, Gerry Bacon, Robert Coppen, Randy (Kraken), Crypto-Joe, “Mark”, Rangoon, Mngwa and many more have been giving it to you straight.
Cryptozoology is about new discovery - Cryptozoology is about real information - Cryptozoology is about me, you and the true world around us . It is not about tall-tales, what if’s, and personal faith.
